Experiences of a General Internist By Emmanuel Otoo, M.D. - Germany As a medical Doctor I realised at a very early stage in my career, maybe like many of my colleagues that there was something lacking in the knowledge I had acquired at medical school. I realised that I could not really help many of the patients who came to see me. That is why I couldn't really heal them or help them heal themselves. So I started looking for other ways of helping them. My wife had heard of acupuncture and was very much fascinated by it. She advised me to take a training course in acupuncture. I was still deeply embedded in mainstream medicine and regarded acupuncture as some kind of hocus pocus and that any positive results which were reported were just the results of a placebo effect. Still I listened to my wife and registered for a beginners course. Telling myself I could still jump off the waggon if my prejudices were not removed. Well I did not jump off the waggon and after 4 years training I had acquired enough knowledge to intergrate acupuncture into my clinical work. Using the needles and herbs I was able to increase my job satisfaction greatly. Last year I had the opportunity of being linked to this Site. I read about Alberto Tedeschi's WHITE® light. I read the various articles and I was convinced. Everything made sense. I also had the strong feeling that the WHITE-Method could be a way of removing the barriers I had reached with acupuncture. I got in touch with Johann Euringer and ordered a MORPHEUS-Lightpen. I got to work with it immediately. Most of my acupuncture Patients consulted me because of migranes and pains arising from the musculoskeletal system. The effect on these Patients was dramatic. I realised that I needed fewer sittings to get the same amount of alleviation as before. I decided to use the Lightpen on a patient who was suffering from Graves' or Basedow's disease. The patient had gone through a radioactive iodine therapy. Still the accompanying eye symptoms (staring, reddened, frightened looking eyes surrounded by swollen eyelids) known in medical jargon as endocrine opthalmopathy, did not improve. The specialist offered to treat her with a higher dosage of corticosteroids and x-rays. This possibility did not appeal to her much. We decided to try acupuncture. I must say I had never used acupuncture for this kind of ailment before. But having seen the Lightpen at work in other cases I decided to give it a try. Still I expected the whole thing to be a long and winding affair. Using the Lightpen alongside the needles we started the treatment. To make thing short within a month the symptoms were gone! I was amazed. The specialist confirmed that she did not need the dreaded therapy anymore. Another experience which I would like to share with you is that of a young patient who consulted me because of her extreme obesity. In conversation I realised that she was on corticosteroids because of a kidney problem (nephrotic syndrom). I explained to her that being on corticosteroids her chances of losing weight, even with the help of acupuncture, were rather slim. Still she insisted upon me giving it a try. I decided to start with her drinking rephased water as described at this Site. I explained gently to her what it was all about. We then started working using the needles and the Lightpen. After about 2 weeks she reported that for the first time in over a year she has had her menses. After about six weeks she had lost 13kg, she went to her Nephrologist (Kidney-Specialist) who found that her blood and urine values had improved so much that he reduced the dosage of corticosteroids to the least possible dosage - from his point of view. This of course also helped her to lose more weight. The last time I However the most gratifying occasion to me was the result I got using the Lightpen on a deep wound on the paw of our dog. The wound healed without a trace within two days. I am not too sure but I have a feeling that since then his fondness for me has really grown. All in all I think one or two of the Pens should be in the quiver of every Health Professional interested in getting real results in the treatment of his patients.
