MORPHEUS Light Pen vs. Botox injections By Almut Green, Shanty Bay - Canada I've had the MORPHEUS light pen since last summer, and felt like I was taking a big gamble since we really can't afford to throw away money on "gadgets" that we may or may not use. I did have a feeling about this, though, mostly because I'm familiar with Stuart Wilde's work and trust him. I have "taken on" a neurological disorder called "Dystonia", which is very similar to Parkinson's with the exception that it's not usually progressive and it's more painful, since it produces charlie horse-like symptoms. I've had it since 81 when I was only 24, and it pretty much stayed in my neck. The reality of it, apart from chronic pain, was that my head pulled to the side and to the back all by itself, which made me look so strange, that I became a recluse. It felt like I was constantly battling just to stay upright. I made peace with it at some point, after being a medical guinea pig for years, and stopped all drugs and treatments, since they didn't work anyway and just gave me side effects. One year ago, I decided to give it one last try, at the urging of a close friend, who couldn't stand to see my symptoms worsening. I got my first Botox injections on Dec 1, 03. They did help, but the injections themselves (I get between 25 and 35 at once) are definitely not pleasant. I was to get them every 3 months, at which point they would wear off. I loved the new freedom and absence of pain, but then came the "wearing off" phase where I was reminded, that it's all just temporary. I was also experiencing quite a bit of anxiety for a week before the injections. I had had my last set of injections just a week before I received the light pen. I should explain, that the Botox gets injected into the affected muscles, and the substance will then attach itself to the nerve endings in that area. So the neuro transmitters themselves still malfunction, but now the nerve can't receive the wrong messages anymore. The body in its wisdom will recognize the Botox as a foreign substance and will immediately set out to remove the offending intruder. Usually this process takes three months( depending on the strength of your immune system), which is why you need to have this treatment repeated every three months. I started "playing" with the light pen right away, and after one week, to my horror, I felt the Botox "come off". There's a specific feeling to it, and of course, my symptoms returned in their full glory. I wasn't too happy! I had just spent over $1500 on those injections, $600 on the light pen, and between the two of them, I was back to square one, and in pain. I couldn't go back for more shots, since they only allow them every 3 months, otherwise you might start producing antibodies. My husband and I were using the pen a lot, and we experienced all kinds of interesting things. He's a musician, and noticed right away, that his hearing had changed. With that, his music took a great leap forward and he found himself achieving levels he had never thought possible before. I heard his singing getting better and better, too (he's been a singer for over 20 years). My eye-sight improved to the point where I could once again read without glasses (I'd had 20-20 vision all my life, but then... you know..) Things looked brighter all of a sudden. Then, about a month later, we found, without planning this at all, that we no longer desired any kind of alcohol, not even wine. We weren't heavy drinkers, but did enjoy partying fairly regularly. We haven't touched a drop since...can't even imagine why we did in the first place. My neck did not improve, however, and I couldn't wait for the three months to be up so I could get my shots again. I had a bunch of commitments coming up in the fall, such as being a vendor in a trade show for three days and going for a 32 hour drive to Florida, and couldn't take the chance that the pen might help eventually. I got the treatment, everything was fine, but now I didn't dare go near that pen again until the three months were up. They were up a month ago, and I'm 3000 km away from my neurologist. My symptoms did re-appear right on time, and this time, rather than going for a plane ride home to get a bunch of needles, I gave the pen a chance in earnest. My husband has been shining the light on the affected areas every night for about 15 - 20 minutes, fairly closely. After about a week, I felt a definite difference. The feeling is hard to describe, but the outcome is, that one month later, I'm almost symptom free. Almost, because last week the bulb burnt out, and my symptoms immediately worsened again. Not as bad as usual, but a little. Now I'm waiting for the bulb to arrive in the mail, and I feel in my heart, that this will be the end of my so-called "incurable" disorder that's so hard to live with. I'm still painfree! I can't tell you how thankful I am, and that I'm finally able to meditate like I always imagined I could. I'm enjoying life like I never have before. By the way, Stuart is right about the gum disease help. I've battled that all my life, too, and it left very quickly. Seems to work on minor burns and cuts, too. I wanted to be absolutely sure before I gave a testimonial, and now I am. Johann has been wonderful with prompt service and friendly communication. We can't wait till we get the "Infinity Pen"!
